The Season Has Arrived

No, not quite fall yet (although I spotted a few leaves that had changed color up in the canyon last weekend). I'm talking about football season. I used to really like football season; I'll admit it was more for the social part of gearing up and attending games rather than the sport itself. However, I still enjoyed it. Well, now football season is starting to get a little bit on my bad side. Why? Because I have to compete with huge guys on a TV screen for my husband's attention. Sam has been dancing around the house singing/humming the NFL theme song all week, so at least that was entertaining!

One benefit of football starting up is that I get to see my Papa and Grandma Curtis more! Being the absolute die-hard BYU fans that they are, my grandparents travel up to Utah for just about every home game (although they live in AZ they've had season tickets for as long as I can remember) Since the Cougars had a home game for the season opener my grandparents made the trip up and we got to have dinner with them! My Uncle Brad, Aunt Nanette, their adorable girls and my cousin Mikenna were also in attendance. Please excuse the quality of these pics as they were all taken with my phone...

Celebrating Us

Sam surprised me by planning a weekend full of fun for our anniversary last month. I failed at documenting the whole thing with pictures, but I did get a few. On the Friday before our anniversary we headed up to Park City. We had a delicious dinner and sat outside in the gorgeous weather; then we strolled up and down Main Street while wondering in and out of random shops. We spent a lot of time in a few art stores and it saw some really neat pictures/paintings. Sam made friends with this bear...

The following day was our anniversary! I can't believe it has already been a full year since our wedding. Sam told me that I needed to dress kinda nice for where we would be eating lunch. I was a bit confused when we arrive at The Pie in Salt Lake. If you've never been there it is an underground pizzeria right next to the U with a college student atmosphere. Needless to say, you don't need to dress nice to eat there at all so I was confused why Sam said to dress up a little, but I was still excited for some delicious pizza! (This is one of Sammy's favorite places to eat)
We enjoyed the yummy lunch then spent a little time wondering around SLC; we found ourselves in a dinosaur museum which was random, but fun to explore.
When we got back in the car I figured we were heading back to Park City, but next thing I know we pulled up to the Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake. Sammy got tickets to The Lion King!! (that's why he said I needed to dress nice). We absolutely LOVED the show. The costumes are amazing and so creative. I was so shocked that Sam had this all planned! I didn't even know the Lion King was in town!
We also did a hike in Deer Valley that was beautiful and really fun. It was a fabulous weekend. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful husband. We've had an exciting first year for the both of us. I am looking forward to see what we experience in our second year of marriage.
